Answer : Dr. Vikram Sarabhai set up the first rocket launching station in India. This centre was established at Thumba near Thiruvananthapuram on the coast of the Arabian Sea. After a remarkable effort, the inaugural flight was launched on November 21, 1953, Sarabhai started a project for the fabrication and lauch of an Indian satellite and the first Indian satellite, 'Aryabhatta' was put in the orbit in 1975 from a Russian cosmodrome.
